Advanced Ice Skating Jumps : The Ballet Ice Skating Jump

Hi! I’m Simone Fisher and I’m here at Clearwater
Ice Arena in sunny Clearwater, Florida. On behalf of Expert Village, we’re going to introduce
to you some advanced figure skating jumps. What I’m going to show you next is a ballet
jump. On the ballet jump, we usually go into the jump with a right inside turn. We stick
our left toe pick in the ice and we spring off that leg. Then we extend our free leg
into the air. Basically, it’s important that we keep our back nice and straight, our arms
out, and then we turn out of the jump. That’s basically it. It’s a lot easier to actually
see it in action, so that’s what I”m going to do next. I’m going to show you the ballet
jump, so here I go. Like I said, it’s always important to spring off the back jumping leg.
You want to bend, bend, bend, and extend.

  1. I like ballet jumps they are nice grace moves and judges like seeing them. My coach also uses the reminder word "starfish" because you want a good position with your arms and legs. I usually do a ballet jump after a waltz jump. I land the waltz, set up and make sure I'm fairly sideways, bend down and pick in. This allows me to get lots of height on the ballet jump. It's good to practice this facing the glass if you can, go slow at first (you won't get much height while doing that).

  2. im going to start going to ice skating lessons… they charge of beginners and advance $18 from 6:30pm till 9pm.. wow $1 dollar a minute… thats $60/hour… thats a rip of

  3. I think she did good! i mean not EVERYONE does it amazingly! at least she can do it at all! i bet you couldnt ! so leave her alone!!

  4. i'm pretty sure all the "experts" on expert village have no idea what they are doing and should no be teaching people the wrong way of doing things. just look at the ballet "expert". she's even worse than the figure skating expert.

  5. You're amazing. Thank you so much for teaching through Youtube.
I'm a beginner skater and I'm learning a lot from your techniques.
I'm going to skate today and try the jump.
    You're an amazing teacher.
    Thank you so much.

  6. Isn't that a stag jump… I used to start my program with one from a stand still. Good job tho it probably has a bunch of different names.

  7. if it wasn't because my coach explained it to me today I wouldn't understand this, she is not very good explaining

  8. @EveningFantasy thats how it is. you go off of one foot and you also land on that foot. its harder than it looks

  9. ahhh she does it so well the thing is i can do three turns i just stink at em and i havent done them for a while ๐Ÿ™‚ i would love to try this ๐Ÿ˜€

  10. Never heard of a Stag Jump? the most popular jump of times gone by, it's nice to see it band in figure skating.
Check out the jubee f loop (males of have in their program) I would love to see women do that same jump ~ it's glorious, and underestamated ~ s8, free :))

  11. People… Advanced basically means here that its not skating forwards or backwards. And advanced is different to some people than to others! Back off! Watch the freaking video and move on!

  12. you are right if the series title don't involve the word jump…
ballet jump is actually a quite easy jump comparing to other jumps…

  13. what the. keep talking throughout the video, and only show so little of it at the end for thr demonstration. not well done at all. could do it more properly.
