When you think of surfing what comes to mind? Epic sunrise, paddling in the waves, ripped bods, tanned bods, the ultimate eco-citizen. Surfers see and feel the effects of ocean pollution first because they are literally swimming in it. But there’s a catch. Take the board itself. Most boards are made out of foam, a fabric, and resin or epoxy. Most foams can’t be recycled. Resin has its own set of issues. And fibreglass… where do I even start? Here’s my one thing for today. If you’re new to surfing buy a used board. Just fix up your board for as long as you can instead of buying a new one. Hang ten.
