The Next Level of Windsurfing – Philip Köster 2012

So, the deciding heat against Victor Vernandez has been a little tight. But in the end, I did it, and I’m very happy. And now I don’t know what to say anymore… I started windsurfing at the age of eight and my parents have helped me a lot. They were the instructors. And then I started actually surfing every day in front of our house in Vargas. I simply surfed every day and went straight into the waves. I still remember the first wave that I got. That moment you simply can’t forget. Yeah, the triple loop is the most radical jump I’m working on. Trying those tricks you break a lot of equipment. The turns are so fast to get into the third rotation… in a week I sometimes break up to two boards. There is always the danger that you can hurt yourself, and with the triple loop this danger rises quite a bit. I just don’t think of it and try to switch off my mind. Just go out there, and try to do it. Triple Loop – Philips strength is definitely in the air. In strong winds, he flies a lot higher and has much more control. I guess it’s just a matter of time. He’s got more feeling in the air then anybody else, so if anybody can do it this year, it’s him..
