WowGo 3 Electric Skateboard — What’s different? More than you think!

If you’re looking for an electric
skateboard that has a flexy deck, is great for carving, and uses hub motors,
think about what’s currently available on the market. I’ll do a comparison with other boards
another time, but if those are the qualities you’re looking for – again, flexyi
deck, carving, hub motors – I can tell you now that at this time the WowGo 3
is the board that I would choose. The WowGo 3 is of course the
successor to the very popular WowGo 2S. If you search YouTube for WowGo 2S, you’ll see that it got a ton of positive reviews. But the WowGo 2S
has been around for more than one full year. It’s still a good board, but because
there are now so many competing budget boards using almost the exact same
components, it doesn’t really stand out anymore. And also many people’s
expectations of electric skateboards have become much higher.
They can’t just have good electronics that take you from point A to point B.
They need to be good long boards. Well I’m glad to say that the WowGo 3 is
actually a unique product and it doesn’t suck. I don’t consider it an innovative
product but it doesn’t need to be. It gives a lot of people exactly what
they’re looking for. If you want to see my review and comparison of the WowGo 3 to its nearest competitors make sure you’re subscribed to this channel and
join the notification squad… thing… Bro fist. Like the WowGo 2S the WowGo 3
uses Zealous bearings in the front wheels. The deck is still shaped like a
Loaded Vanguard. The motors have some minor cosmetic changes but are otherwise
mostly the same as before. But pretty much everything else has been upgraded.
The deck is now 83% bamboo and 17% fiberglass making it stronger
and more bouncy than before. This is great if you like flexy decks. You might
have noticed that this deck has no handle but it’s actually going to be
optional. If you want a handle just make a note to WowGo when you’re
ordering and then you can mall grab like a pro! The front truck is now an
authentic 50-degree Paris V2. If you’re not familiar with Paris trucks, the Paris
V2 is one of the best-selling longboard trucks in the world because they’re
fantastic for carving and pumping. The rear truck is not Paris but you can see
that the design is similar. The bushings are all stock Paris 90A bushings
and notice that they’re all barrels. This helps the board be more stable at higher speeds. The front wheels are
custom made for WowGo. They’re 90×62 mm, 78A durometer. They have
offset cores and square lips and look very much like bigger versions of wheels
on the Boosted Board. The new remote has an LED display very similar to the one
on Exway and Backfire’s remotes. It has battery indicators for the board
and the remote, a speedometer, a trip meter, an odometer, etc. The WowGo 2S has three speed modes and the WowGo 3 has a fourth speed mode.
It’s 2019 so of course they’re calling it Turbo. But it’s different from
Backfire’s and Exway’s Turbo modes. There’s no extra button, there’s no
30-second limit, you don’t have to enable it. It’s just the fourth speed mode. And
in my opinion that’s probably the best implementation of Turbo. In Turbo mode
the top speed is the same as the third mode, 39 km/h, but you get more mid-range
torque. WowGo now has their own custom enclosures for the WowGo 3. The rounded design matches the shape of the deck much better than the
boxy enclosures that they used in the past. If you need to open the enclosures
you can now undo the screws from just one side so swapping batteries is a
little easier now. And if you buy an extra battery for the WowGo 3 it actually
comes with the enclosure so you’d be swapping the battery and the enclosure
together. You’d have to cut that zip tie though. The reason that the battery and
enclosure need to be changed together is that WowGo has taken extra steps to
make the board more water-resistant and part of that involves gluing the battery
to the enclosure. So far I’ve only encountered two minor issues. Remember
this is a prototype that has not gone into mass production yet. First, the pivot
on the rear hanger is either a little bit too short or the hole is too deep.
The result is that the kingpin is not centered unless I pull the hanger up a
little bit. Once I do that the bushings go in just fine. I didn’t actually
feel any problem with the rear truck though while I was
riding so this might not be a big deal. The second issue that I encountered is
that the hub motor sleeve started making a slight flapping sound. WowGo told me
that the reason is that there is actually a tiny gap between the motor
and the sleeve but as far as I could tell, neither of those issues affected
the ride. So I guess I’m just nitpicking. But in any case, this is a prototype and
WowGo said that they’ll take care of those issues. Again this is not a proper
review. I’m mainly just introducing the board right now. I’ll do an actual review
after I ride it some more and if this video gets 11 likes. But so far I
actually like this board a lot.

  1. This board has the right stuff! The right deck, trucks, ESC, remote, battery, etc. All of those components put together make the WowGo 3 an incredibly fun ride. It also doesn't have some silly problems that the nearest competitors have, which I'll explain in a future video. If you're getting this board, you can get $30 off by using my affiliate link http://dk.wowgo.co and entering the code 'dkwan' at checkout.

  2. Hey Daniel, cool video. I have two questions:
1: When you say ride app in your videos (the one for speed and distance) which specific app are you referring to?
2: Do you have an exway discount code or wowgo only?
Thanks and keep up the great videos.

  3. Please do a g2t vs WowGo 3! They are the same price and I want to understand which of these will be more fun, durable, better for my hilly neighbourhood and range. I don't truly care about turbo mode. My current board (Blitzart Hurricane) has 1 hub motor and the wheel over the hub motor is making the same flapping noise, I can see it sort of separated from the motor and it does affect it's top speed and rage. Hoping it doesn't happen to WowGo 3.

  4. Your videos are great and this board actually looks pretty good too, I’ve been looking for a good hub motor board because I have 3 belt motor boards and want that little different ride

  5. I'm new to eboards, i don't even have one i'm looking and deciding which one to buy BUT, i read somewhere the vibration/sound from the motors can be normal when you have replaceable wheels instead of the whole wheel being the motor. I think this happens in other boards even with the Wowgo 2s with replaceable sleeves. It would be annoying but i think i would accept that and have cheaper replacement.

  6. Exway is beauty but jezz on crappy road all the vibration will kill your legs.

Wowgo find the best combination! The deck shape design is beautiful, vanguard like and…. Bamboo! Omg bamboo, the flex it's good like on all road type and carving feeling!

Real Paris truck, good bearing, wowgo3 is good Stock! Nothing to buy nothing to upgrade, and the price is very good

  7. Daniel Kwan that was a great video! thanks for sharing your experience.
Are the cases for the battery and ESC no longer in metal? That would be too bad, mine – on wowgo 2s board – have been damaged but luckily they are metal cases. They would have cracked by now for sure if they weren't. Flapping sound would be definitely be a party pooper for me. Other than that, no doubt this is a great board. I've been riding my wowgo 2s for one year now, I enjoy every single second riding it! ps. also check out my review vid if you like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL69l7T5rqo

  8. DK, thanks for making a video on this board. I am looking forward to an in depth review on this one. Although I already have multiple Eboard's, this one really grabs my attention due to the fact that they have further perfected an already perfect design via the better deck, Paris trucks, better wheels, "turbo mode", Samsung 30q cells, the enclosure being swapped with the battery, and of course the awesome color schemes. I think this entire set up is beautiful and I will most likely add it to my arsenal. The only thing is that for a budget board $600 is a lot. Do you happen to know if there will be a sale/price drop/ discount code? Thanks. Looking forward to your review and comparison videos with the Wowgo 3s! Keep up the good work.

  9. The end reminds me of buggy games on Play Station One. Nice review… I'm still a little skeptical about the price for the few added benefits, but overall I must admit it looks like a well product. All around, well rounded… Nice one WowGo !
What's the peak current (amps) of the new, upgraded Hobbywing ESC ??? I noticed it's got 4 capacitors instead of the two capacitor of the previous Hobbywing ESC in the WowGo 2S… Previous hobbywing ESC had two (2) 50V 470 uF electrolytic capacitors. This new one has four (4) 63V 330 uF electrolutic capacitors…

  10. Such a sick board! Stock parts: Zealous bearings and Paris trucks on a Chinese board! WowGo is making great decisions!

  11. Been so happy with the 2s i'm definately ordering this. It looks real nice, glad wowgo are listening to their existing customers

  12. 2:48! lmao!!!!!!

This DOES look like a great board! wink wink
204th like! 😉 so… you best pony up!

Love your dry sense of humor and your videos are always improving.

    Lookin' forward to your review!

  13. Looks really good. Yet people can't get past how the griptape is "similar" to Boosted, yet the same people were dead silent when Ownboard completely copied the Boosted Stealth aesthetic. Beauty is only skin deep people. Specs, performance and ride feel is what matters most.

  14. still researching on my first board. I had it pretty much down to backfire g2t but then you drop this board into the mix and i'm wonder what are the benefits of having a more flexible deck vs a stiffer. I would have thought that stiffer equates to being more responsive and softer less responsive, but you're saying they're both good at carving and i'm really looking for a fast amazing carve board, hope you can help thanks!

  15. Sounds like a good board. I'm a little worried about that clicking sound. It must have something to do with the swappable PU's. Meepo had that problem too with the swappable pu's. I don't know…I wouldn't want to listen to that clicking sound the whole ride.

  16. can you say that the wowgo 3 is better than exway because of the flex deck like boosted and larger wheels? The exway is too pricey for a budget board cuz I can purchase the mini X with that money, can you do a review of boosted stealth, exway pro and wowgo 3? I'm planning on purchasing a wowgo 3 cuz I love the flexy deck, I used to have a mini x but the new motor of 3rd generation is ummmmm 🙁 so i returned it and now i ride inboard on campus but the wheels are too small (80mm )in order to handle the bumps and the deck is not flexy. SO i guess wowgo e is the best

  17. Thanks for the vid Daniel Kwan. Love the reviews you make and they are very entertaining to watch. Cheers 👏👏👍

  18. Is there an app that goes with this board? And how about an battery upgrade? Looking for that Sanyo range.

  19. Hi Dan and WowGo team. Question: Will there be an upgrade path of existing 2s owners? (ESC + remote combo). And, will the Sanyo battery work with Turbo mode. Thanks!

  20. Ouuu if they don’t fix that flappy noise even if they say they are going to, I’m going to have to go with the backfire. Excited to see your direct comparison between the two so I can decide which one is better suited for me.

  21. Daniel, would you recommend this as a first board for someone with 0 experience on longboards or skateboards? I was thinking this or G2T. I have no idea if flex is something I should look for on my first deck.

  22. How do you shoot the B roll when you are riding the board? ( drone 😎?) Also, where did you get the full-face helmet? I might need one for myself. 😅

  23. this is the exact board I was waiting for,
    flexy deck
    good for carving
has a remote with a screen
    paris trucks
    more water resistant
I'm waiting happily for the full review

  24. Watchung ur channel I fell in love with eskateboard. Bought the keep v2 & the backfire 2s. Now that I put together a 52v 1k ebike my love gas changed. Faster speeds and safer. Would like to see u make a video in a skateboards vs ebike 💪✌🏻

  25. Great work Daniel. No worries. this 2 problem will be fixed before mass production. and we plan to publish an video to show your guys how we have solved this 2 problem in the following days. thanks again and keep up with the great work👍

  26. I'm very impressed with your channel. I love seeing your take from an actual longboarder's perspective. Seeing you actually talking about bushings (and throwing some soap shavings in there to deal with the squeak) makes me feel like I can trust your take on the electric skateboard reviews. Also zealous bearings are the best bearings I've ever used and I purchase them exclusively for my all boards now!

  27. Seems like they paid your or are compensating you for this video. Those two issues to me are not small nit picky issues. They are qc issues that these Chinese manufacturers are known for.

  28. I just ordered g2t and i can cancel it if i want. I am really confused with g2t or wow 3. Any suggestions.. anybody?

  29. my opinion mch beta with direct drive or belt drive motors as hub motors only has a thin layer of urathene on its rear wheels and doesn't absorb all the vibrations.

  30. I love Your electric longboard videos 🙂 keep the great work going

BTW I also review some electric longboard on my channel

  31. i ordered a wowgomini and im from Canada so its taking around 3-4 weeks, customer service has been questionable so far, if something goes wrong i have no idea how i'll get it fixed. due to them taking so long to reply and my shipping taking a month. Sadly there are no electric skateboards sold or manufactured here in Toronto.

  32. Hey🙂 i love my wowgo2s but how does it campare to the New 3? a friend is looking to buy a board and wonderd wich to buy👊

  33. Wow(go) ! This new board seems so perfect ! I would love to see a comparison between Wowgo 3 and Backfire G2T 😉

  34. SUGGESTIONS FOR WOWGO 4: USB interface into the ESC, so braking curve, acceleration curve, and top speed can be user customized with a PC app.

  35. Nice. They really listen do their customers. I'm very happy with my 2S. I switched to Paris V2's shortly after i got it, so it's good to know they are included now. I'll finish the season with the 2S, but possible upgrade to 3 next year.

  36. Question for @Daniel or anyone that already has WowGo 3.
I'm worried a bit on how much rattling noise do PU sleeves make. I'm thinking of buying this to move away from my 3 year old Yuneec E-GO2 which has a belt motor. I would prefer the board to be as quiet as possible.

  37. Also do you have to turn on the board every time or is it like the meepo where you can push and then it starts

  38. Dude, started watching your stuff when you were both shooting and editing on a potato – how far you've come! Great work!

  39. Been considering getting this board but there seems to be a lot of people complaining that they are not getting their boards. Bad reviews on facebook and trustpilot 🙁
